Nikhil Pratap

Nikhil Pratap is an advocate and attorney qualified in both India and New York, with an LL.M. from Columbia Law School and nine years of experience across dispute resolution, arbitration and real estate. He acts for a broad range of clients, including governments and public sector undertakings, companies and corporates, real estate developers, promoter families and closely held companies, startups, foreign parties and individuals, both in their disputes and in the transactions behind them.

On the disputes side, his work spans civil, commercial, criminal and constitutional litigation, together with arbitrations and arbitration related court proceedings, across sectors such as energy, infrastructure, mining, construction and real estate, as well as insolvency before the NCLT and NCLAT and proceedings before the RERA authorities. On the transactional side he advises on real estate development, leasing and land acquisition, and on corporate structuring, shareholder matters and succession. He appears before the Supreme Court of India, the High Courts and tribunals across the country, has practised in the chambers of Parag Tripathi, Senior Advocate, and served as Additional Standing Counsel for the State of Odisha, where he led final arguments in several reported judgments.

Alongside practice, he writes on technology law, arbitration, constitutional law and contemporary legal questions, with essays and op-eds in The Hindu, The Indian Express, Scroll and The Wire, and has advised on India's data protection legislation. He works in English, Hindi and Odia.
